I think I broke a Nail Polish Haul record today..LOL..yes thats 20 polishes :X..blame my bff khadij who has a discount and i who has no self control =PROBLEM....ahhh i dont have enough hands..see if you can guess the colors..Video coming tomorrow..

Brush Maintenance and Cleaning.

I am really nit picky when it comes to cleaning my brushes. I spot clean everyday and i use the extra virgin olive oil/anti bacterial soap combo every 3 days. My brushes feel great and they are free of bacteria and buildup. For years I used MAC Brush Cleaner only but finding this combo has been great..My brushes look brand new after I deep wash them this way.

The extra virgin olive oil/ anti bacterial dish washing soap actually came from one of Michelle Phan's videos.
I have about 20-25 MAC Brushes..some I have had for over 10 years. That is quality.Brushes are the most important investment to make when it comes to makeup application. I don't use all of them everyday but it is good to have different tools to achieve the effect you want. I also have some lower end brushes that work just as well so if you are on a budget I recommend ELF, Sigma, Crown and Eco Tools Brushes.

I use Brush Guards to keep my brushes in shape while they dry. You can purchase them online @ www.thebrushguard.com. They are really inexpensive and a great brand so def check it out.

NOTD- 10/11/10

Man I have become a polish addict! I bought 6 polishes over the weekend..craziness..but well worth it my friends..

Here is what I am currently wearing..I had Brucci Amelia's Ahmthyst on solo for 2 days and when I bought Sparklicious by OPI ..I put it over to create this

 2 coats of Brucci and 1 coat of Sparklicious..I wanted the purple to show

Tiny Haul

 

Went to Ricky's on Steinway yesterday. I had to pull myself out of there! I picked up 2 polishes from the OPI Burlesque Collection : Sparklicious & The Show Must Go On. I also picked up All Hail Mcqueen from Butter and Nude Lipstick from Mattese. I am so happy =)

My Drugstore foundation experiment

Im going to be perfectly honest here..I am quite a snob when it comes to drugstore products. My mother is 68 yrs old and you would NEVER believe her if you saw her. Trust me when I tell you she would never let me buy Wet N Wild when I was younger. I used L'oreal and Revlon until I was about 16/17 then I started messing with Clinique and Lancome then I discovered MAC and all the other brands when I turned 18.

My mom always said to me "Don't put anything cheap on your face..Spend a bit more money and get a quality product. Always take care of your skin..you do not want to be 45 and look 60." Truer words have never been spoken says I who has yet to nail down a skin routine.

Anyways nowadays my foundations of choice are Makeup Forever HD / Face & Body and MAC Tinted Moisturizer or whatever other one. For concealer I use MAC as well.

Since getting back into my whole makeup thing I have decided to venture out and try some drugstore foundations. Obviously the quality of every brand has greatly improved from 15 yrs ago and I feel confident there will be at least one winner.

That being said here is what I picked out to try first.

 

I have heard great things about both products. On Makeup Alley Tru Match got a 70% score and the Maybelline concealer had a 65% score. So I hope these work at least for an everyday kind of look and I can save my higher end ones for special occasions. Just picked up the Chanel Mat Lumiere in the right color as well. I will report back next week and let you guys know the results.
